The society of METallurgical ENGineers (METING) was established on the 20th of August 1995 in Slovenia and is a volunteer society of engineers of Metallurgy, who are united with the purpose to study phenomena, responsibilities, professional duties, moral and ethic principles of engineering and who wish to contribute to the protection of the value and stable future of our profession.

The logo of the Society is rounded with a body centered cubic lattice of alpha iron in the middle.

Goals and Tasks of the METING Society

• observing the state and development of the profession,
• establishing a professional ethic within the METING Society,
• organizing professional and social meetings and excursions for the METING Society members,
• achieving active professional cooperation with other institutions,
• publicize trends and activities of the engineering branch,
• introducing events, which are within the scope of the goals and tasks of the METING Society,to the professional and broader public,
• performing any other activities which are deemed to be within the professional competence of the society,
• organizing mutual cooperation between METING Society members.

The METING Society cooperates with societies and organizations having similar goals and tasks to the METING Society within Slovenia and abroad.

The METING Society can be joined by any individual who is professionally involved in the field of metallurgy whether it be scientific, research, business, or other manner. Membership is not restricted to individuals of Slovene nationality. Membership of the METING Society is on a voluntary basis and is expected to be treated with honor.

The first annual general meeting will take place on the 14th June 1996 in Celje. At this occasion the first generation of new members will join the METING Society and together we will set new goals for the future.
